Anonymous asked: One little thing I noticed you could improve is bringing your free leg in tighter on your back spin and trying not to travel as much. But it was really awesome - I like the arms, very graceful! Good luck :D

clairemoloko answered your question: Help? Is that your program, or the sequence of elements thing. Do you get to perform it with music? Thats my sequence of elements, and not sure about the music thing. I think they give us some random music, but I’ve never done it before so not entirely sure!

Help?
I have a competition the week after next, and we have to perform set elements, which determine the order we’ll skate our programs in.  In my class, we have to do a BI spin, a salchow, a 3 jump - toe loop, and a step sequence; but artsy it up however we like. I’ve never done this in a competition before and I’d really really really appreciate any feedback anyone has on mine.  I...

12 Days To Go
Til I’ve had 1 whole year self injury free. I’m thinking I might reward myself some how, like go out to dinner with my family or something - because its really been very challenging to recover and I’m really proud that I eventually managed to get past this thing which had plagues me for most of my teenage life. I really feel that I’m recovered, and I’m not even...

I Find Being At School Difficult
Because whenever I have my mp3 player on between classes, I just want to be able to dance my heart out, like I would at home. I hate being restricted by the fact that there are lots of people around me who probably wouldn’t appreciate that.

Lutz is now in my program!
So happy because its my absolute favourite jump and also the one which will get highest marks for difficulty of the ones I can do, and it just looks the nicest too :) Also, is anyone going to the Alfreton competition in March?

Peter Pan Project: Day 3
[Posting in retrospect as I forgot to post this yesterday evening] Today really wasn’t as good as the other days. Disorganized would be the way to describe it. Whilst on Wednesday they stuck to the schedule and on Tuesday even though they didn’t use the schedule they pretty much knew what they were doing, the events of today were mostly a mess. We got there at 10 like usual, and tried very hard to...

gotjilk replied to your post: Peter Pan Project: Day 2 do you have a foam roller, or a baseball, or lacrosse ball or tennis ball? any of those would be helpful to roll the pain out of your legs, they help with muscle soreness. Thankyou! This is really helpful, I’ll try it :)

Peter Pan Project: Day 2
Ok, so you have to bear in mind when you read this, that I am now in massive amounts of pain, and ridiculously tired - so anything and everything might not make any sense. I wouldn’t write it out now if it wasn’t for the fact that I know I’ll forget everything if I don’t do it tonight. And when I say pain, I mean to the extent that bending my legs is agonising, and get up...

Peter Pan Project: Day 1
Ok, so I think my legs are now officially the most tired they have ever been. 8 hours of non stop skating and dry training is enough to kill me for one day, let alone 3! Still, it was almost all good and useful stuff, and we learnt some really interesting things. I’m going to write up everything that happened, so feel free to skip this cause its probably going to be long and I’m...

Peter Pan Project
Can’t believe I haven’t posted about this til now, but tomorrow I’m going on a very exciting skating seminar. Its called the Peter Pan Project and it runs for 3 days, and very luckily its only 40 mins from where we live.  There’s going to be these really amazing innovative Italian coaches (Mario and Elvia Vitta) who’ve produced lots of world champions, and...

Choreography
Took the day off school today cause still ill (only day off I’ve had this whole school year!) and using it to do some more on the choreography of my friends program. Its going really well so far, and I’m really pleased with how its working out. Its so lovely seeing your ideas just materialise into a whole program! Its also quite difficult cause my friend is quite a higher level than...

Really Sick Right Now
Someone come and give me hugs. I feel like death and I am so tired its taking everything for me to just not go to bed now, and its only 6. At 7 I’m going to bed, thats about the earliest I can probably go to bed and potentially sleep through til tomorrow. Watching Parks and Rec and wishing my brain would stop being like cotton wool fuzz. Someone come love me when I’m sick?

New Skates!!!
My new skates!! Aren’t they so beautiful! The picture really doesn’t do them justice, they’re so amazing - they really make my old ones look dirty in comparison (though I still love them very much!) My new boots are for figures (not looking forward to skating without the toestop, never done that before! >.<) and they are the Edea Chorus boot (which were made...

1 Month To Go
Til I’ve had a year completely free of self harm. Just thought I’d share - cause I’m immensely proud of coming this far - I’ve never been without it this long since I started 5 years ago. I will definitely make it to the end of the year, and further :)

New figure skates arriving Tuesday, and picking up...
Feels odd having no skates whatsoever at the moment, but that should all hopefully be fixed by Monday, as long as we don’t get completely snowed in :)

Plate Problems
New plates arrived, but they don’t match up with the old holes, so now I have to find someone who can sort that out. I really don’t know who’ll be able to do that. I’m so sick of getting my hopes up that I’ll be able to skate properly, then to find that something else has gone wrong again. It seriously feels like someone is testing me - my determination to skate...

UCAS Application
I have conditional offers from all of my uni’s so I think I can safely say it was a good application!  So, my plan is: AAB or above - Durham, preferably St Hild / St Bede College ABB - BBB - Newcastle Anything else, I have to go to clearing, which would suck big time, unless I decide to put a lower offer as my insurance choice, in which case I have these to choose from: Leeds - ABB ...

I have to buy a whole new plate.
Ok so I wrote a whole post about this, and then my browser crashed. And I’m really not in the mood to write it again. So basically, in summary of what I would have written - the part on my skate thats broken has fused to the rest of the plate so even when the replacement comes we can’t actually replace it. So I have to buy a whole new plate (for non skaters, this is the metal part of...

Flexibility Update
Been doing quite a bit of stretching lately to help with my skating, and here are some of the things I’ve been working on: Y stand / Heel stretch - much more flexible on one side than the other, but the other leg is catching up. Oversplits at 25 cms from the floor! Standing split - something I’ve been working on doing on skates, it actually looks really good when you’re...

Have I Mentioned How Completely Crazy I'm Going...
For those of you who don’t already know, the day before Christmas Eve, I had skating, and we discovered that the jump bar on my skates’ frame was broken. Now don’t ask me how because thats meant to be impossible to do, and my coach who’s been skating for decades has never seen that happen. But the upshot of that was that I can’t jump until we get a replacement part,...

Boy or girl? The parents who refused to say for... →
[TW: Most of the comments on this article are seriously bigoted] His fairy wings, pink tutu and ballet pumps suggest this little boy has raided the dressing up box. But if five-year-old Sasha wanted to wear this every day, his parents would have no problem at all. In fact, as they are bringing him up to be ‘gender neutral’, they would see it simply as their son expressing himself. Gender...

ericabeer replied to your photo: Sorry that I keep posting pics of this, but I’m… How on earth do you stretch for this? I cant get my leg higher than my head I’m naturall quite flexible, but the same stretches for splits, so lunges, oversplits etc; sitting in splits and leaning backwards; bridges for the back flexibility; and lots of shoulder rolls and stretches to to get the...

Does anyone have good ideas for a skating leo...
this-is-min: Heeeeelp meh! I have an upcomming comp and I have no idea what I’m going to do about the design of my leo for my freeskate. All I know is that I am going to have it green or blue. This gurl is all out of ideas. My music is from Amelie (french sounding?)  please inspire me :) Oh I totally love designing skating dresses - I do it all the time! Maybe if you like green and blue you...
